I was recently in San Francisco for the IHRSA show—the big fitness show of the year.
I arrived on Tuesday afternoon and headed to a wine and cheese event hosted by Western Athletic Clubs. The event was created to bring awareness to their most recent acquisition and to raise money for Muscular Distrophy Assoc. WAC has a very philanthropic history and is very involved in the community. I saw familiar faces and had the chance for some face to face time with new staff who I had only spoken with by phone. These people can party—ALL NIGHT LONG.
The next morning I walked the floor at the show with general managers and other staff from several of the clubs. It was amazing to see just how many types of equipment are available and the range, from stuff that looked “home-made” to equipment that clearly understood the power of great design. The same with booths, some missed the mark by far and others created an atmosphere that was unique and on brand.
Western Athletic Clubs has been a client of ours since 2001, a relationship I’m proud to have because of their commitment to people and to providing the highest level of service to their clients. That’s a model that we aim for on a daily basis around here.
Oh, and this trip also reminded me that I should get to the gym more often…
