We just received our newly-published copy of Rockport’s Packaging Essentials: 100 Design Principles for Creating Packages today and BD is excited to share that our own self-promotional packaging was chosen to be included. We’re honored to be in the mix with so many other beautifully executed packaging solutions. Always a fantastic feeling to be appreciated by your peers. Great book – check it out!

As a studio, we constantly look for design solutions that help our clients stand out and make a memorable impression. I’m talking about pieces that have depth, texture, interest, detail, and design “nuggets” that engage the recipient and continues to do so even after they first received it. A piece that calls you back and says “i’m still here” and really does a fantastic job at it.
We just received an early copy of 1000 More Graphic Elements which will be available in stores world-wide in the coming weeks. In this book, we were honored to see several of our projects in full page spreads and large caption images. The collection of work in this book speaks to the heart of why we do what we do. It’s the kind of book that any graphic designer can spend hours/days just taking it all in.
We haven’t notified our clients about the recognition yet, but i know they will be thrilled to see that our quest for “attention to detail” is being recognized and presented to the world as a symbol of great design to an industry filled with so many talented designers.
This news also brings a smile to my face because i truly believe that print offers something that multimedia can’t— the ability to “touch”. In a world filled with millions of daily eblasts, it’s nice to see that a well crafted piece can offer something that is quite unique. For designers out there, this is a must have book!

I often describe our design style as timeless and contemporary with a twist. The twist can be in the color selection, font choice, photography, grid layout or unique design elements. Just enough to make something look contemporary and fresh, but can also stand the test of time. We want our clients to feel that we bring great value when they hire us for a project and create work that is not dated or out of style soon after it’s completed. Perhaps even more important these days when the decision on who to hire is more important since it is the beginning of a long-term working relationship.
Watersedge Landscape is a good example of a brand that was designed over 5 years ago and was recently selected for the Logo Lounge Master Library. This book looks at previous publications and selects the best of the best. I was proud to see that a logo we designed in 2004 is still very relevant and looks as if we designed it today. This is a great compliment to our firm and we are very proud to be a part of the Logo Lounge publishing family.

We are proud to announce that Buchanan Design is featured in Rockport’s newest book, 1,000 Package Designs. Not one, not two, but three of our designs appear in the publication dedicated to “beautiful, creative, innovative packages.” What an honor! The next time you’re in our studio—or your local book store—check out our work on pages 69, 168, and 198.
