30 + 1

August 10, 2010 | Buchanan Design

For those of you who didn’t know, last Friday was my birthday. When I arrived at work, I was pleasantly surprised with a custom cake created by BAKE! – the very exclusive and not-yet-existent boutique cake shop run by Ryan’s wife Jennelle. The cake had a sushi theme with edible rolls and nigiri complete with soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. It was pretty amazing as you can see!

My Buchanan style birthday celebration was continued with a trip to a local Japanese restaurant for some miso salmon, tempura, chicken karage and grilled beef tongue! Everyone then sent me off with some gear to help me work on my golf game.

Thanks to the Buchanan crew for making my special day… special.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

August 5, 2010 | Buchanan Design

gp_blog Over the weekend, we had a first here at BD—we all teamed up to plant a garden. It was actually Bobby’s idea to have a Garden Party at my new house (The CottageTM) so that made me feel slightly less bad when he showed up with his family on a Saturday and proceeded to stand in dirt and dig a giant hole to plant a Kumquat tree. Everyone pitched in to make the party and the garden a great success. Everyone but me, that is. For just as there is no “I” in “Team”, there are no “Sequined Heels” in “Garden.” Though I did feed everyone and walk around frantically a lot. These guys are definitely good seeds.
